St. Hilary's Miniature Church Advent Calendar 2009

Wednesday 9th December 2009

Amelia and Emily are still having fun writing their Christmas cards!  Amelia has picked this one with a Christmas tree on for one of her friends but cannot decide WHAT to write because her friend is a close friend and she wants to say something special!  Poor Emily will have to wait as they are sharing this one pencil.......lets hope she doesn't have to wait TOO long!  Megan has come over to have a chat but it looks as if both Amelia and Emily are too busy to take any notice of her.........poor poor Megan!

The girls have picked the carol for today because it reminds them of the kind of Christmas THEY always dream of.................and it is..........see below

(Words by Edward Caswall (1814-1878)

ee amid the winter's snow,
Born for us on earth below,
See the tender Lamb appears,
Promised from eternal years.
Hail, thou ever-blessed morn!
Hail, redemption's happy dawn!
Sing through all Jerusalem,
Christ is born in Bethlehem.

Lo, within a manger lies
He who built the starry skies;
He who throned in height sublime
Sits amid the cherubim.
Hail, thou ever-blessed morn!
Hail, redemption's happy dawn!
Sing through all Jerusalem,
Christ is born in Bethlehem.

Say, ye holy shepherds, say
What your joyful news today;
Wherefore have ye left your sheep
On the lonely mountain steep?
Hail, thou ever-blessed morn!
Hail, redemption's happy dawn!
Sing through all Jerusalem,
Christ is born in Bethlehem.

"As we watched at dead of night,
Lo, we saw a wondrous light;
Angels singing peace on earth
Told us of the Saviour's birth".
Hail, thou ever-blessed morn!
Hail, redemption's happy dawn!
Sing through all Jerusalem,
Christ is born in Bethlehem.

Sacred infant, all divine,
What a tender love was thine,
Thus to come from highest bliss
Down to such a world as this.
 Hail, redemption's happy dawn!
Sing through all Jerusalem,
Christ is born in Bethlehem.

Teach, O teach us , Holy Child,
By Thy Face so meek and mild,
Teach us to resemble Thee,
In Thy Sweet humility!
Hail, thou ever-blessed morn!
Hail, redemption's happy dawn!
Sing through all Jerusalem,
Christ is born in Bethlehem.
